Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.
An important representative said the vandalism made him speechless and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
